Laura is the Co-Director of the K12 Lab at the Stanford d.school. Her work focuses on how human-centered design can be used to provide equitable and innovative educational experiences that will help all students thrive in a changing world. She was the principal of two High Tech High schools, has taught middle and high school classes in public charter and comprehensive schools. She has also designed and led global adult learning programs focused on designing for equity and deeper learning.

Kwaku is the Director of the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Thinking at the San Diego Jewish Academy. He has had the privilege to work in various roles in education for the past 19 years within public, private and charter education. As an educator, professional wonderer, connector, and advocate for students, Kwaku is always looking to connect the dots between education, tech, art, agency, and the stuff that he has yet to understand.

Design expert A.J. Paron-Wildes has a two-word solution to the age-old struggle between the kinds of spaces companies want and the kinds users actually need: “design empathy.” A.J. uses the term to educate others about the need to accommodate a range of sensory experiences when it comes to making modern spaces.

Architect and Design Justice Advocate. Founder/Director of Colloqate Design, a nonprofit multidisciplinary design practice. Bryan has spent 11 years working as a Design Justice advocate, organizer, and architect with a focus on building justice in the built environment. Lee was named one of 2018 Fast Company Most Creative People in Business. 2019 Architectural League Emerging Voices and a 2019 USC Civic Media Research Fellow.

Morgan Vien is a leader, learner and designer. Most recently she has led a TK-8 arts-integrated, expeditionary learning school called ASCEND, in Oakland, California. She is a School Retool Coach with the K12 Lab at Stanford’s d.school, a consultant with Catalyst:ed and coaches fellow leaders to define their school vision, design their model, and take steps towards executing on that vision. Her leadership prioritizes building strong teams and using design thinking to cultivate the conditions for sustainable innovation and change towards deeper learning.

Carolyn Foote is a 39-year educator who is passionate about advocacy, library space design and technology. Winner of the AASL Library Collaboration Award and a White House Champion of Change for Connected Learning in 2013, she is a champion for intellectual freedom and is currently a member of the @Freadomfighters team, fighting for students, librarians and authors. I have over ten years experience as an educator and program manager for innovative learning projects in schools, museums, and outreach settings. I have developed and managed a diverse set of programs focused on STEM education, 21st Century Skills, and creative problem solving. An avid collaborator, I have a strong record of establishing and sustaining partnerships with educators, mentors, and learners. Now the STEM Education Specialist with 4-H CAPITAL, I am committed to education equity for girls and minorities; I am a strong advocate for the power of out-of-school-time and informal education in fostering life long learners. I believe that the best education comes from a community where innovative learning is accessible, collaborative, and highly connected. David is a co-founder of STEAM-Studio and Education Practice Leader for Gould Evans Design. His team has a deep focus on the science of learning, driven by collaborative research with educators, anthropologists, psychologists, and others. For each of the last five years, his education design work has been recognized nationally with recognition for innovation. In 2017, David co-authored the book: Unleashing Creative Genius: STEAM Studio’s Impact on Learning and UDL: Learning Spaces Idea Kit.
