We are excited to welcome poet and author of The Way Forward, Yung Pueblo, to the SXSW EDU 2024 stage as our Closing Keynote on Thursday, March 7! Thursday, March 7 Programming

Closing Keynote

Unlocking Your Best Self for Yourself & Others

In a thought-provoking talk, Diego aka “Yung Pueblo” will guide audiences through the transformative journey of self-love and the art of letting go. He will highlight the three pillars of self-love: radical honesty, self-acceptance, and positive habit building, and how these principles can lead to personal healing. Diego will also discuss the importance of releasing past traumas and how that connects to uplifting the mind and unlocking creativity. It is only through unlocking your best self that you can serve others well.

Providing a Voice & Making the Nevers Possible for ALL

Those with sensory needs are oftentimes left without a voice both in and outside of the classroom. Join this panel conversation to learn how technology advances, doctors, parents, and advocates are working together to change how neurodivergent individuals communicate, empowering them to shatter the nerves that were handed to them through their journey of diagnosis.

“Butterfly in the Sky” Screening & Q&A

“Butterfly in the Sky” tells the story of the beloved PBS children’s series "Reading Rainbow," its iconic host LeVar Burton, and the challenges its creators faced in cultivating a love of reading through television. Two seconds into the bubbling synth sounds of its theme song will have a child of the 1980s or ‘90s exclaiming “Reading Rainbow!” Such is the beloved nature of the classic children’s literary television show that introduced millions of kids to the wonder of books.

Q&A with Deborah Lee Smith, Bryan Storkel, Bradford Thomason, and Brett Whitcomb.

Crossover Day

SXSW EDU Programming Open to All SXSW Attendees on Thursday, March 7

We believe there is an educator behind every great leader, and every great leader is a lifelong learner. SXSW fosters creative perspectives, and the Crossover Day will provide an opportunity to learn lessons applied more broadly, while collaborating and building your network outside of the immediate educator community.

Stay tuned for new sessions added exclusively for Crossover Day, to be announced soon.
