The River City Drumbeat film follows Edward White, who devoted thirty years to leading an African-American youth drum corps in Louisville, Kentucky. Now Albert, whose destiny was shaped by the drumline, must take up the mantle in a story of music, love, and legacies set in the American South.
The team behind River City Drumbeat joined our weekly SXSW EDU Online series for a virtual discussion after a special screening of the film. Watch the Q&A with Marlon Johnson (Director & Producer, River City Drumbeat), Anne Flatté (Director and Producer, River City Drumbeat), Edward White (Artist & Founder, River City Drum Corp), and Albert Shumake (Artist & Director, River City Drum Corp).
