Stria Labs Win Student Startup Competition

The fifth annual Student Startup competition has announced this year's winner, Stria Labs from Nueva High School in San Mateo, CA.

The Stria Band is a smart waistband designed to make navigating safe and convenient for the blind community.

The competition selected eight finalists from high schools across the U.S. and internationally to pitch their business ideas to a panel of expert judges in Austin, Texas. The live event is a platform to celebrate and elevate the innovative work of youth entrepreneurs, with the winners taking home seed money for their venture.

Student entrepreneurs had the opportunity to gain valuable insight and feedback from judges For the Students Founder Ogden Payne, Latinitas Program Director Sylvia Butanda, Curcuma Chef and Founder Rachel Musquiz, and Blackstone LaunchPad Executive Director Mitch Jacobson.
