PanelPicker® public voting is open! Cast your votes through Thursday, August 30, for the sessions and workshops that you'd like to see at SXSW EDU 2019.

A record number of nearly 1,500 proposals were received for SXSW EDU. These proposals provide not only a robust preview of the ideas and topics that will be at SXSW EDU 2019, but of what is trending in the education landscape more broadly.

Experiential programming that provides in-depth and instructional value is popular at SXSW EDU so it's no surprise that 20% of the proposals submitted were workshops with another 4% in the Hands On format. A few debates, which were reintroduced as an option in PanelPicker this year, were submitted. Panels were the most submitted format type and accounted for roughly 28% of the SXSW EDU submissions.

New tracks, Accessibility & Inclusion, Emerging Tech, Science of Learning, and Student Agency, proved popular with a lot of entries in each. The K-12 Education track had the highest number of entries with Higher Education trailing close behind it.

The PanelPicker Process

Each year, PanelPicker helps shape the majority of SXSW EDU conference programming. Community voting comprises 30% of the selection decision, plus input of the SXSW Staff (30%) and Advisory Board (40%) helps ensure that less well-known voices have as much of a chance of being selected to speak at SXSW EDU as individuals with large online followings. Together these percentages help determine the final content lineup.

For more information about the community voting process, read the PanelPicker FAQ and visit the SXSW PanelPicker page. The final deadline for PanelPicker community voting is Thursday, August 30 at 11:59pm PT.
