PanelPicker Opens July 1
SXSWedu 2013, Photo by Debbie FinleyThe process for entering a SXSWedu 2014 session proposal via PanelPicker begins on Monday, July 1. PanelPicker-generated proposals allow the SXSWedu community to have a voice in the topics and sessions at SXSWedu. Likewise, it helps bring an array of new ideas into the event.
Last year SXSWedu received over 700 session submissions in PanelPicker, leading to an impressive selection of sessions at the 2013 Conference & Festival. The same high-caliber response is expected this year, so now is the time to start planning your session ideas!

Want to Promote Your PanelPicker Proposal?
Photo by Otto HelwegRallying online support for your idea is an important part of the process. Use the SXSWedu webtile in your blog or website to promote your session proposal to your online community. Using the webtile will allow your web visitors to gain access to your specific PanelPicker proposal in one click.
Encouraging your friends and associates to vote for your panel proposal demonstrates energy, motivation and organizational ability. All of these skills are important when it comes to organizing a successful session for SXSWedu. Please remember that high voting totals alone will NOT guarantee you a speaking slot. Public voting accounts for 30% of the decision-making process on any given proposal, while another 30% is comprised of staff evaluations and 40% is input from the SXSWedu Advisory Board. Keep in mind, online self-promotion is best when done appropriately and in moderation
How PanelPicker Voting Works
Photo by Otto HelwegThe PanelPicker selection process, a modified approach to crowd-sourcing, is designed to help gauge the kinds of topics that most interest the SXSWedu community.
Following the proposal submission period, the community is afforded the opportunity to contribute to the programming decision-making process through public voting online in PanelPicker.
The SXSWedu PanelPicker voting and commenting interface is open to the public from September 17 - October 5, 2012. During this time period anyone with access to the Internet and an interest in SXSWedu can comment on a proposal and cast a vote for the sessions they wish to see at the event.
