SXSWedu held its inaugural educational conference celebrating Texas' new K-12 education portal, Project Share, March 8-10, 2011 in Austin, Texas at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center. 2011 Featured Highlight:

Over the last 25 years, South by Southwest (SXSW) has seen tremendous growth from it's birth as a small music festival in 1987 to where it stands today as one of the largest convergence of artists and creative talent in the nation. With the education system facing many of the same transitions that music, film, and the interactive space faced 10 years ago, creating an event that celebrates innovations in learning was a natural progression for the organization.

In the video clip below, SXSWedu Executive Director Ron Reed explains the connection between innovations in learning and SXSW.
